below: "The Ole Homestead" 2004 Given to my parents as gift. Painting of my parents home, where I grew up.
The house has increased in size, shape and color over the years, but it is still home to me. (Paintings using a picture such
as this, would be priced between $50-100, depending on detail and complexity).
below: "Thunder Cove" 2001
A story goes along with this one as with a few others. I painted it (over an old framed cardboard print).
When my nieghbor saw it she appeared to really like it, and wanted it. So I gave her the painting to enjoy while she came
up with the money. Yeah, you can see where this is going. And yes, I've learned that lesson. One day I went to visit my other
neighbor and lo and behold there was that painting hanging in an honored place above her couch. She told me that she saw it
in the hallway and asked the other lady about it. She was told to take it if she wanted it. So... as I stood bewildered, this
lady told me she was going to pay for it. She said she only had enough to pay me some of it right then. She says how about
$70? (This particular neighbor had previously bought 6 other paintings of mine). So in the long run, I got paid. And other
than the occasional 'gift paintings' I do, never again, will give my work out , before I get something in return,
even if it isn't money.
